My name is Joshua Rogers and I’m 17 years old and starting my 4th year racing downhill mountain bikes. Yep, racing down mountains. Imagine a motorcycle (dirt bike) without motor and that’s the type of bikes I race.
I get ask why do I like/love to ride/race bikes. My dad also gets asked why spend so much time and resources.
The thrill and adrenaline is a major part. It’s hard to explain but I also feel at peace on my bike(s). Being the one responsible for my race run means I have take full ownership. I ride on a team and I appreciate all the help we give each other. However, it’s up to me to navigate the course and push the limits. I like riding on the edge and trying to figure out how much to push past that point. Knowing that the course changes a little after each rider makes me stay super focused.
The other reason I love to ride…chasing a dream. I have a dream to race professionally on the World Cup circuit. To be able to make that happen requires commitment and dedication. I love to train, to make myself better both physically and mentally.
This year I made move to new team and new program. I’m riding for Billy Goat Bikes out Asheville, NC and I started training with Elite Athlete Development. I also added a change in bikes. The team and I will be riding for SCOTT Bikes on the 2015 Gambler. New team, training program, sponsors but my goals stay the same.
